Dental Health and Periodontal Disease

Pet’s teeth are often easily overlooked. However, just like in people, healthy teeth are necessary for proper digestion. That foul breath everyone complains about while cuddling or getting kisses from “Fido”; is often a result of bacteria which causes infection and produces tartar.

Severe localized infection, known as osteomyelitis, can actually be so severe that it can deteriorate the bony structure of the jaw and skull. Also, as you may have heard from your own dentist, periodontal disease can cause damage to the heart, liver and kidneys.
